Do you have a bunch of books that you keep promising yourself you will read one day? Or maybe you have a goal to read one book a month and you just realized it’s September and you haven’t read a book since last September? Well, let’s fix that issue!
BikeArlington in partnership with the Arlington County Library is hosting a monthly Bike Book Club. It’s the perfect event for you if you 1. Love to read 2. Enjoy bicycling, 3. Want to ride your bike with friendly people at a leisurely pace and/or 4. Want to read more books.
We will meet at locations close to a Capital Bikeshare station in case you don’t have a bike then ride to one of the county’s libraries to discuss that month’s book.
To view the seedier sights of crimes committed,
To hear tales of hatemongers and femme fatales from years past,
To explore deeds of corruption and espionage along familiar streets,
Join us for a bike ride through Notorious ARL.
Join us for an approximately three-hour ride of Notorious Arlington sites. We have an 18-mile course mapped out with multiple points of interest, each dealing with darker subject matter including terrorism, crime, espionage, and bigotry.
Ride start: 11:00 am at Phoenix Bikes at the Arlington Mill Community Center
Ride ends: Roughly 2:00 pm back at Arlington Mill
This class is designed for adults who never learned to ride a bicycle or have tried before but feel like they need more instruction. Certified instructors employ a special technique for teaching balance, steering, starting, stopping, and pedaling with the goal of having you ride on two wheels by the end of the class. It’s fun and intuitive.
Registration is required to attend, and costs for Arlington residents is $10 and non-Arlington residents is $85. A bike and helmet are included with your registration.
Staff from BikeArlington will lead this 3-hour class, designed to teach adults how to ride a bike. Start by learning balance, then each rider proceeds at his or her own pace through starting/stopping, pedaling and turning. The technique is fun, intuitive and very successful, but it takes hard work! Please wear comfortable clothes and bring along a water bottle and snack. Bikes and helmets will be provided. This event takes place indoors. Please register by Oct. 18.
