Bike Classes: Basic Skills Clinic

New this year, the basic skills clinic is designed to give you more opportunities to sharpen your riding skills. So if you’ve completed the Learn to Ride class and want more practice time or are simply looking to improve your riding skills, this class is for you. Certified instructors will lead drills, including starting, stopping, turning, weaving, and gradual breaking.

Students should be able to balance and ride on two pedals.

Students should bring their own bike and helmet. If you’re unable to bring your own bike, email education@waba.org or call 202-518-0524 at least 48 hours prior to the clinic.

Bike Classes: City Cycling

This is a great class for riders of all skill levels. If you’re an experienced rider, there are skills to learn. If you’re new, we’ll help you master fundamentals. Certified instructors will help you learn to deal with traffic, communicate effectively and master the transition from road to trail and back again. You’ll also work on bike handling maneuvers and ride along the local bike trails or bike lanes on a group ride.

Students should know how to ride a bike, be able to ride for at least 30 minutes, and be comfortable starting and stopping on a bike.

Students are required to bring their own bike and helmet.

55+ Adult Learn to Ride Class

Staff from BikeArlington will lead this 3-hour class, designed to teach adults how to ride a bike. Start by learning balance, then each rider proceeds at his or her own pace through starting/stopping, pedaling and turning. The technique is fun, intuitive and very successful, but it takes hard work! Please wear comfortable clothes and bring along a water bottle and snack. Bikes and helmets will be provided. This event takes place indoors. Please register by February 24.
