Summer in the DC region is hot and humid. One of the best ways to beat the heat is to ride downhill with the breeze blowing on your face to the Columbia Marina then take a kayak on to the Potomac River and paddle on the water for a while. It’s a relaxing way to start your weekend. It’s a great event for a date or a fun outing for the kids.
Need to know:
- Single kayaks $16/hour
- Double kayak $22/ hour holds 2 adults and one child
- Children ages 8 and up can kayak alone
- Island Time Bar & Grill is a full-service restaurant on the property
Registration is required for this event. There is a fee payable to the Columbia Island Marina for the kayak rentals. This is a family-friendly event.
Getting to the Event
We’ll meet at Clarendon Metro Station. Bikeshare stations are about 1 block away near N. Highland and Wilson Blvd. Use Care Free Near Me to see all of your transportation options.
Cookies, pie, ice cream, and candy! We’ll have it all in the Sweet Treats Ride! This ride is for those with a sweet tooth or who have always heard about one of the locations we’re going to and thought I need to check out that place. So let’s do it! We’ll be visiting four locations. We’re starting at Nicecream which sells specially flavored ice cream made with liquid nitrogen. From there we will stop at Acme Pie to try one of their seasonal pies made with a flaky southern crust. Our next stop will be Best Buns to taste one of their yummy cookies or muffins. And finally, we will ride to Sugar Factory in Pentagon City to buy candy for later.
This is a family-friendly ride. Join us for one, two, or all four stops.
This is a one-way ride ending at Pentagon City Metro. You will be able to take the Yellow or Blue Line back if you like or continue on with your day via bike.
We’re partnering with Pizza Club of Washington Meetup Group for our Single Slice Spin Arlington Edition. We will check out the pizza in three locations. Starting at Ballston Metro we’ll ride to Goody’s pizza where they boast of having a jumbo NY style slice. We’ll burn some calories as we ride to WiseGuys (my favorite) for a slice then end in Crystal City at We, the Pizza. If you love pizza,(and who doesn’t?) This is your chance to try out a slice at three places and meet some other pizza lovers while biking off those cheesy calories.
Do you have a bunch of books that you keep promising yourself you will read one day? Or maybe you have a goal to read one book a month and you just realized it’s June and you haven’t read a book since last June? Well, let’s fix that issue!
BikeArlington in partnership with the Arlington County Library is hosting a monthly Bike Book Club. It’s the perfect event for you if you 1. Love to read 2. Enjoy bicycling, 3. Want to ride your bike with friendly people at a leisurely pace and/or 4. Want to read more books.
We will meet at locations close to a Capital Bikeshare station in case you don’t have a bike then ride to one of the county’s libraries to discuss that month’s book.
Join Bike Arlington to learn how to create a belt using old bicycle parts. All materials and tools provided. Makers can keep the belts they make at the workshop.
Registration required. Supplies will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis.
