If you’ve ever been on the W&OD trail you’ve enjoyed the result of the Rails to Trails movement, one of the most unlikely social movements in American history.
Narrated by Edward Norton, this film tells the story of the struggle to convert thousands of miles of abandoned railroads into trails for cycling and walking. Facing fierce opposition and legal challenges from private property owners, leaders fought to reclaim these corridors for the public, creating a national network of scenic, car-free paths.
Arrive at 2:30 p.m., enjoy a refreshment, and get seated before the film begins at 3:00 p.m. The screening will be followed by Q&A, with opportunities to learn about how the film evolved and what the documentary has brought forward.
