Capital Bikeshare Ebike Confident City Cycling
    Sep 25 @ 9:00 am – 12:00 pm
Capital Bikeshare Ebike Confident City Cycling @ Quincy Street Parking Deck, Arlington

Ebikes are everywhere nowadays, and they are a fantastic option for anyone who is looking to add an extra boost to their ride or get around town more quickly. You can grab a Capital Bikeshare Ebike from a docking station, or pick up a Lime dockless ebike off of a street corner. With all of these bikes only a few steps out your front door, it is important to know how to be safe and get the most out of your ride. Confident City Cycling teaches you the skills you need to ride safely and confidently on streets, bike lanes and trails alike.

This class is broken into two groups to accommodate different skill levels and interests. The Fundamentals track focuses on practicing basic bike handling skills such as shifting, scanning, signaling, gradual braking and weaving. Instructors discuss the importance of trail etiquette while riding on a multi-use path and answer any questions participants may have about trail riding for commuting or recreation.

The Confidence track teaches hazard avoidance maneuvers necessary while riding on the street and in heavily-trafficked areas. Participants learn skills such as the avoidance weave, quick stop, rock dodge, and instant turn, and discuss considerations for sharing space with other road users.

Each track ends the class with an on-street or on-trail group ride, where participants put their newly acquired skills to the test. Have any questions? Email us at education@waba.org.

BikeArlington Presents: E-bike Demo and Ride with Rad Power Bikes
    Oct 30 @ 11:00 am – 1:00 pm

Join BikeArlington and Rad Power Bikes for a free event to learn about and test ride e-bikes!

E-bikes are changing the world. With the extra boost from pedal assistance or a throttle (or both), more people can enjoy the freedom and joy of riding a bike, more of the time. Whether you’re a parent looking for a sustainable, easy way to do school drop-off, a commuter looking to sweat less, or someone who just wants an extra boost, an e-bike might be for you.

We will meet at Quincy Parking Deck and hear from employees and owners of Rad Power e-bikes before going for a ride around Arlington to test out the e-bikes on trails, streets, and hills.

Rad will have 10 e-bikes available to take on the ride and slots are first come, first served. If you already have an e-bike, join us on the ride to share your experience as an e-bike owner.

Riders should be comfortable balancing and riding on a bike. The ride will be at a relaxed pace as new riders adjust to the e-bike experience. Helmets are required on Rad & BikeArlington rides; if you do not have one please indicate that when registering and we will lend you one.
