Safe Streets Start With You

Be a PAL

No matter where you’re going or which mode you choose to get there, what matters most is arriving safely. We are safest when everyone does their part to follow the rules of the road by being a PAL (Predictable, Alert, and Lawful).

Predictable
Walk predictably and make sure you are visible to traffic and to other road and sidewalk users so they can see you and predict your movements.

Alert
Scan the route, watch for vehicles, bikes, scooters, and other pedestrians, heed signals, and take care when crossing.

Lawful
Obey all traffic signals, signs and lane markings, and cross at crosswalks.
