Recent Docking Station Upgrades
Recently Capital Bikeshare introduced significant upgrades to docking station locations in Arlington. These enhancements feature modular stations—smaller, more flexible configurations that can be reduced to just four docks spanning ten linear feet—and an independent design, ensuring each dock directly connects to the network for improved uptime. A redesigned latch mechanism, makes docking easier and more consistent. The system is also street tested to minimize maintenance needs. Emphasizing sustainability, the solar-powered pillar docks improve power efficiency and are charging capable, enabling in-dock e-bike charging via solar or grid connections.
The latest upgrades were implemented at the following locations:
- Thomas Jefferson Community Center
- Washington Boulevard & Walter Reed Drive
- Courthouse Metro (15th Street North & North Uhle)
- 21st Street & North Pierce Street
Collectively, these improvements reflect the network’s ongoing commitment to delivering a more efficient, user-friendly, and environmentally responsible bikeshare system.

Arlington Shared Micro-Mobility Devices
Shared micro-mobility refers to transportation options like bikes, e-bikes, and scooters that are shared for short trips, playing a key role in Transportation Demand Management (TDM). These services provide flexible, convenient alternatives to personal vehicle use, helping to reduce traffic congestion, lower emissions, and enhance the efficiency of transportation systems.
In Arlington, shared micro-mobility supports accessibility, sustainability, and equitable transportation options. Programs such as Capital Bikeshare, Bird, Spin, and Lime offer residents and visitors easy access to shared bikes and scooters, making it simple to navigate the county while minimizing environmental impact. By integrating shared micro-mobility, Arlington fosters community connectivity, alleviates congestion, and furthers its sustainability objectives.
Visit the Arlington County Shared-Micromobility website for more information and resources, including how to report a misparked or abandoned device, suggest a parking corral location, report a damaged corral, and access the parking corral map.
